Short Info

Marius Watz (NY, Oslo):
Marius Watz is an artist concerned with generative systems for creating visual form, still, animated or realtime. His signature is a brand of visual hedonism, marked by colourful organic shapes and a maximalist attitude. Most of his works deal with drawing machines implemented in software, live visuals for music or large-scale projections of plastic visual systems.

Burak Arikan (NY, Istanbul):
Burak Arikan is an artist and researcher who is based in New York and Istanbul. He focuses on creating networked systems that evolve with the interactions of people and machines. His work confronts issues ranging from cultural sustainability to finance to politics and labor in networked environments. He shows the instances of these systems online and onsite through diverse media including prints, animation, software, electronics, and physical materials.

Monika Jaeckel (Berlin):
. . >>> mind the __ GAP*?
since 02/2004 … weblog as a gap standing as a metaphor for the void / empty space which is necessary to have other things evolve -> to get a ‘moving’ / streaming image - a changing image -> thus the gap as the moment of free space, defining the closed ‘programmed’ space / the scripted space, which needs the break to get the next action running / the next character introduced -> bits, morse, pulse, flash, etc..

Chris Mennel (Stuttgart):
Hyperkino
Hyperkino is a hall of movies. All movie scenes run all the time all together in the different places of the hall. You are the story. Because Hyperkino joins the themes that run all the time all together in your mind. The movies show the caleidoscope of human archetypes. You push the story, while you move around. Thousands of years mankind concentrated archetypical moments in temples.
Hyperkino is a modern temple, adding electritity, slides and films to sculptures and arrangements. Like temples of all ages Hyperkino costs lots of money. Sometimes you will find just it’s virtual shadow here in the net. Bring it to reality, if you can. Visit it, feed it. Because nothing compares to life.
